Response to Review no. 608

The co-editors would like to thank Professor Christopher Brooke for his generous and interesting review. The success of such collective volumes as Religious and Laity can only be based on bringing together essays that have many links with each other, not just in terms of chronological and geographical connections, but also other types of common thematic threads. Therefore we are particularly pleased to see that the reviewer noticed so many links between papers—especially the question of mutual expectations of lay patrons towards monastic and mendicant houses and how the execution of these hopes were difficult to accomplish.
