Response to Review of Curia and Crusade: Pope Honorius III and the Recovery of the Holy Land, 1216-1227

I am very grateful to Dr Donnachie for his thorough and eloquent review of my work, which I am very pleased to accept. Since my aim in writing the book was to use the pontificate of Honorius III as a lens through which to examine modes of medieval papal govenance, I am pleased that he amplifies my conclusion that we need to explore the main themes of my book further, both outside the crusading movement and under other medieval popes. I very much hope that the book will inspire further research in this area to test the model of responsive papal government for which I have argued.
