Response to Review of New Insights on Slavery in the British Atlantic World

Nicholas Draper writes that he is happy to accept this review, but would like to take the opportunity, in relation to the reviewer's legitimate highlighting of the desirability of a comparative context for British slave compensation, to draw the attention of readers of the review (and indeed of The Price of Emancipation itself) to a new work, Frederique Beauvois, Indemniser les planteurs pour abolir l'esclavage? (Paris: Editions Dalloz, 2013), which provides a comparison between the parliamentary debates in France and Britain over compensated emancipation in the period 1788-1848.
