Unforutnate slip there saying that Elizabeth 1 did not "sire" a son. Now I know that especially in 16thC terms Good Queen Bess could be said to have acted out a male role (though givne the Virgin Queen title and iconography I really think not), but, biology being want it is, if she had married and had children, she would have borne (a much more demanding process), not sired, a son
